Nikki Glaser Says She Was Paid Less Than This Comedian’s Six-Figure Sum To Host The Golden Globes — But Vows She’ll “Get More Next Year”

Nikki Glaser received glowing praise for her first time hosting the Golden Globes this weekend, so it may come as a surprise to many that Glaser was paid considerably less than comedian Jerrod Carmichael to host.

Glaser hinted as much during her appearance on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show on Jan. 6, where she gestured toward Carmichael’s past comments about being paid $500,000 to host the Golden Globes in 2023.

“I got paid pretty — I’m good with that,” Glaser said of the amount she received. “There was a past host who said how much he got paid in his monologue and I got less than that, but that’s OK. I’ll get more next year. I feel well paid for what I do. I’m alright.”

She did not specify how much she made, but a report from Deadline claims Glaser was reportedly paid “a bit more than $400,000.” And a source with knowledge of the matter claims that amount could rise “significantly” if she returns next year.

In addition to the six-figure sum she received, Glaser also received an investment toward a “glam-up,” as seen in her several costume changes, and a “larger than usual joke writing team” as part of CBS’s “investment in Nikki as a long term solo host,” as one inside source put it.

“More was invested this year in Nikki Glaser and her team than any previous host at the Golden Globes,” a source told Deadline.

There is a high likelihood that Glaser will be invited back to host. Her opening monologue certainly had several spicy moments — such as the jokes she made referencing Diddy’s sex trafficking charges — but Golden Globes executive producer Glenn Weiss confirmed there is certainly interest in bringing the roast comedian back.

“We absolutely had a great experience with her, and think that she would be great at this in the long term,” Weiss told Variety, though she would not confirm if Glaser has already been invited back.

Executive producer Ricky Kirshner also praised Glaser’s performance, saying she “really prepared” for the job by practicing her material at comedy clubs several nights a week since November. Glaser herself admitted on the red carpet before the ceremony that she rehearsed her opening monologue over 90 times. This is a considerable change from Jo Koy, who bombed on the Golden Globes stage in 2024 and then essentially threw his writers under the bus.

Carmichael, on the other hand, faced backlash for his opening monologue, much of which was spent roasting the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), which has since disbanded and is no longer involved with the ceremony, and Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne.

“I won’t say they were a racist organization, but they didn’t have a single Black member until George Floyd died. So do with that information what you will,” Carmichael said at the start of the evening.

The 2026 Golden Globes will air live on CBS again as part of the network’s five-year deal with the Golden Globes.

This article has been updated to note that the HFPA was disbanded in 2023 and to clarify that Helen Hoehne is the president of the Golden Globes.
