Cher And Jimmy Kimmel Share Awkward Moment On ‘Live’ As She Tells Him, “This Is Dumb”

Cher was not particularly humored by Jimmy Kimmel‘s line of questioning when she paid a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live to discuss her new book, the first of her two-part memoir, which recently hit the stands.

Kimmel’s Jan. 7 interview with Cher already got off to an awkward start when he asked whether she would want to reach out to one of the men she mentions in her book who was reportedly “instrumental” to helping her end her relationship with Sonny.

After learning the man’s name is Bill, Kimmel asked Cher, “Well Bill ,if you’re watching maybe you’ll reach out, that would be nice, yes?”

Cher responded with a simple, silent shake of her head, prompting Kimmel to instead pivot to discuss the second installment of her series, which is slated to release in November of this year. “So, the second part of your book, have you finished that yet? Is it done?” he asked.

Cher cackled in response and admitted she hasn’t “even started it.”

Kimmel was in shock. “No, come on. Is that true?” he asked, to which she replied with an icy look. “You haven’t even started it and it’s coming out in November,” he pressed.

The singer admitted she was “late” on most of her publishing deadlines last time but insisted that the second book will still release in time – even if she is “a little tardy.”

“So it’s not coming out in November,” Kimmel surmised.

“Yes it is!” she responded.

But Kimmel wasn’t buying it. “We’ll see,” he fired back. “November of what year?” Cher did not appear amused by Kimmel’s jokes, nor was she interested in getting any “help” from the late night host to give her ideas on what to include in the second installment.

Cher later shut down his questions again when he began one question with, “If you could turn back time…,” referring to her hit song. “This is so dumb,” she flatly responded, but she still played along with Kimmel’s game.

“That, by the way, is going to be the title of my autobiography,” Kimmel joked.

But, luckily for Kimmel, Cher seemed to be having a good time on Live despite his endless teasing. “You’re a lot nicer and funnier than I thought you would be,” she told him at the end of her interview.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
