It turns out Home Alone may have involved some method acting gone wrong.

Macaulay Culkin , who starred in the Christmas classic as Kevin McCallister, recently recalled working alongside Joe Pesci, who played half of the infamous robber duo attempting to target his family’s home, per The New York Times.

“He was trying to scare me,” Culkin said at the “Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin” event Q&A in Rosemont, sharing that in order to boost their on-screen robber-victim relationship, Pesci “was like, I want to be menacing to this kid.”

However, Pesci unintentionally took it to the extreme, biting Culkin’s finger during a scene where his character, Harry, threatens to do so. In fact, Culkin revealed that he has “a scar.”

“I saw his face — and I’ve never, ever seen Joe Pesci actually scared,” Culkin remembered. “Because he’s like, I just bit a kid!”

DECIDER reached out to Pesci’s manager for additional comment, but did not hear back by time of publication.

Daniel Stern, who played Pesci’s on-screen partner in crime Marv, opens up about shooting the holiday film with Culkin in his memoir Home and Alone, and recalls playing with the then child star at the park, per Entertainment Weekly.

“He was a sweet kid but had lived a very different life than my kids,” Stern pens in the book. “He didn’t know how to play tag or throw the ball around. He was more of an indoor kid and had a lot of adult pressure on him from show business and parents and such.”

Home Alone remains a festive favorite, one that fans are still finding Easter Eggs in. Last December, Daren Janes, who served as the art director on Friends, confirmed a fan theory on social media that Monica and Chandler moved into the McCallister residence, commenting at the time, “You caught me.”

“The actors walked in the front door, so we saw outside,” Janes continued. “We used the backing from a company called Pacific Studios which was made for Home Alone because it looked the best through the door & windows. Great eye my friend!!!!”
