Ryan Murphy started his Monster franchise with a dramatic interpretation of the life of Jeffrey Dahmer, and now he’s giving the Menendez brothers the same treatment in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, which arrives on Netflix this week. For even more true crime, you can check out Little Miss Innocent on Hulu, which traces the story of Kaitlyn Conley, a woman convicted of poisoning her ex-boyfriend’s mother, but who maintains her innocence and is fighting for her freedom from prison. If organized crime is more your thing, The Penguin arrives on Max this week. The series starring Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, one of Gotham City’s most notorious villains also co-stars Cristin Milioti.

New on Netflix September 19: Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story

Ryan Murphy is putting his spin on one of the most notorious crimes of the past several decades in the new Netflix series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, which drops this week. The story of the California brothers convicted of murdering their parents (played here by Chloe Sevigny and Javier Bardem) has been grist for the mill since 1989, and the new series tackles the events before and after the killings from all angles.
